The Woman in Black
This is a great transitional film for the former Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliffe could have had his pick of roles (correct?) and we admire him for first taking it to the stage in Equus, then the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Here, his lawyer is positioned at the start of adulthood, seemingly principled yet naive, which is smart characterization.
CBS Films has made a string of doofy movies out of the gate, but this thriller and their upcoming Gambit remake will hopefully emerge them as a hit-making studio. Meanwhile, director James Watkins could see Eden Lake, his underrated thriller, get rediscovered this year.
The Expendables 2
Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.
Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol
In the 4th installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States. An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is disavowed, and will be offered no help or backup in any form.
Undaunted, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, but several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster.
The Greay 2012
I have experienced things in life that have taught me to never say,"It can't get worse than this"! Because I know it can.Every horror fan usually knows this by the films they watch. If you mistake what happens in films as things "that will never happen to me",well, you'll learn.
As The Grey opens on the cold, bleakness Liam Neeson appears as a man that has no dream of life left,no lies,no illusions. The reasons are not apparent. He is a sniper contracted to protect oil rig workers from infrequent wolf attacks, and shoots only when completely necessary. He respects the animal enough to know its dangers. His fellow humans he has much less admiration for,at least the ones he works with. They are the refuse of the real world, who deserve to be in the harsh conditions that he has chosen to be in.
On a routine flight to return to civilization the plane crashes literally in the middle of nowhere. The sound editors and techs did such a fantastic job with this film you feel as close to everything that is possible without actually being there.Real depictions of crash victims-and the cold, the cold is a complete character on it's own. That would be enough to threaten your life.
Ten you are hit with the real fear. The primal one most of us have forgotten on our long ride at the top of the food chain. The line between our world of safety and 911 and sanity, and complete all bets are off, nothing will save you but yourself world, is very thin.
Infinera shares rise on 4Q earnings beat
Infinera officials said the results were better than they expected and credited them to continued strong demand from cable, tier one and wholesale service providers for the company's digital optical networks.
In addition, Infinera said the development of its recently launched DTN-X optical network platform remains on track, with trials scheduled for this quarter and volume production set to begin in the second quarter. Meanwhile, there is strong customer interest in the platform, the company said.
THE ANALYSIS: Citi analyst Kevin Dennean backed his "Neutral" rating for the stock, saying that while the DTN-X has "significant potential," even if everything goes well, it will be a while before the platform can start generating revenue.
Jefferies analyst George Notter also backed his "Hold" rating for the company.
"We're inclined to wait until we can more closely see the potential revenue momentum from the DTN-X product to get more constructive on Infinera shares," Notter wrote in a note to investors. "The wild card here remains acceptance by Tier 1 operators."
THE SHARES: In heavy afternoon trading, Infinera shares jumped $1.12, or 15.3 percent, to $8.43 after peaking at $8.90 earlier in the day. Over the past 52 weeks, the company's shares have traded between $5.91 and $8.97.
Buffett Rule legislation sparks debate
Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett wanders at the company trade show before his company's annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska in this April 30, 2011 file photo. Increasing taxes on the wealthy would bring fairness to U.S. taxpayers across the board, billionaire investor Buffett said on January 25, 2012, backing the tax reform that President Barack Obama proposed in his State of the
Mark Zuckerberg - Person of the Year 2010
Mark Zuckerberg was leading a meeting in the Aquarium, one of Facebook's conference rooms, so named because it's in the middle of a huge work space and has glass walls on three sides so everybody can see in. Conference rooms are a big deal at Facebook because they're the only places anybody has any privacy at all, even the bare minimum of privacy the Aquarium gets you. Otherwise the space is open plan: no cubicles, no offices, no walls, just a rolling tundra of office furniture. Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's COO, who used to be Lawrence Summers' chief of staff at the Treasury Department, doesn't have an office. Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO and co-founder and presiding visionary, doesn't have an office.
The team was going over the launch of Facebook's revamped Messages service, which had happened the day before and gone off without a hitch or rather without more than the usual number of hitches. Zuckerberg kept the meeting on track, pushing briskly through his points
Google office around the world
A fanatical believer in the self-righting qualities of financial markets, he was the bubble king who allowed the dotcom boom of the late 1990s to get out of hand and then, when plummeting share prices pushed the economy into recession, started the whole process off again, this time in the housing market.
As chairman of the Federal Reserve, he cut interest rates and left them at rock-bottom levels for two years.Cheap borrowing costs encouraged Americans to load up on debt to buy homes, even when they had no savings, no income and no job prospects.
These so-called sub-prime borrowers were the cannon fodder for the biggest boom-bust in US history. The housing collapse brought the global economy to its knees.
